Hansal Mehta’s ‘Shahid’ actually brought the limelight to Rajkummar. The movie was based on the life of a human right activist and lawyer Shahid Azmi (Rajkummar). Rao won the National Award for Best Actor and Filmfare for Best Actor through his subtle and measured performance in the movie.
Opposite to Kangana Ranaut, Rao played traditional city slicker in ‘Queen’. Though the movie was all about Rani (Kangana Ranaut) and her freedom but Vijay (Rajkummar) gave a memorable performance in few scenes.
