Bringing Bollywood Home
Confined in our homes with the novel coronavirus making our lives tougher each day - that’s what life has become for us these days. In this time of hardship, everything has shifted online - production houses are releasing their movies on OTT platforms and musicians across the world are hosting concerts right from their living room. Recently, Lady Gaga joined hands with WHO and bigwigs from the music industry like Sir Paul McCartney, Chris Martin, Billie Eilish and many more for a phenomenal virtual concert, the proceedings of which were donated by WHO to buy PPE supplies and testing kits.
But back home Bollywood isn't taking a step back, with Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar teaming up with Facebook to organise a home-to-home fundraiser concert, ‘I For India’, which will feature some of the biggest names from the entertainment industry in India and internationally. According to the company’s official release, 100 per cent proceeds from the fundraiser concert will go to the India COVID Response Fund managed by GiveIndia, to support on-ground relief efforts. GiveIndia is associated with over 100 NGOs across the country and is working on-ground to support the required interventions with the prevention, healthcare infrastructure, livelihood support, and essentials for people in need.
For the concert, Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, A R Rahman, Aamir Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Javed Akhtar, Madhuri Dixit, Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif, India cricket team captain Virat Kholi, Ustad Zakhir Hussain and many others have come together for this four-hour-long concert.
International stars like Mick Jagger, Will Smith, Nick Jonas, Lilly Singh, Bryan Adams, Mindy Kaling, Jack Black among others will join this initiative and help raise funds to fight the novel coronavirus.
The concert will be live globally on Facebook on Sunday, 3rd May 2020 at 7:30 pm IST and will feature performances and personal messages from various celebrities. This is indeed a concert you shouldn’t miss out on.
