Brooklyn Nine-Nine Renewed For Season 8
The fans of hit police comedy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine had a major setback in 2018 when FOX network decided not to renew the series after the fifth season. What followed was fans, including celebrities like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Hamill, Sean Austin and Josh Groban, breaking the internet and requesting the network to revive the series. After a network change (From FOX to NBC), a super successful season 6 and an upcoming season in a few months, NBC has decided to renew the Emmy award-winning show for the 8th season!
The show’s official Instagram account posted a video of the entire cast, producers and network heads on a table read where the announcement was first made to the cast. The happy squeals and cheering by the cast members surely gave the fans a deja vu moment from earlier this year when the show was revived for the 7th season.
The cast members took to social media to share the news with their fans too. The show stars comedian Andy Samberg, Mellisa Fumero, Andre Braugher, Stephnie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio, Dirk Blocker and Joel McKinnon Miller as Jake Peralta, Amy Santiago, Raymond Holt, Rosa Diaz, Terry Jeffords, Charles Boyle, Michael Hitchcock and Norm Scully, respectively.

Things have been looking merrier for the show ever since they switched networks. According to Nielsen, the show averaged a 1.2 rating and 3.2 million viewers overall in Live+Same Day ratings, which was basically 15% more in total sets of eyeballs versus the prior season.
The last season ended with Captain Holt, played by Andre Braugher, getting a demotion from the post of ‘Captian’ to a ‘low-ranking patrolman’
Season 6 also saw the departure of one of the show’s most loved character, Gina Linetti that was portrayed by Chelsea Peretti.
