FRIENDS: THE MOST LOVED SITCOM IS TURNING 25 YEARS YOUNG

Twenty five years ago- i.e., on September 22, 1994, Friends, the most loved sitcom in the American history of television aired on NBC for the first time ever, when Rachel Green appeared in a white wedding dress in Central Perk café, the favourite hangout joint of the lovely group of friends Ross, Joey, Phoebe, Chandler, and Monica that moment changed the face of Sitcoms. In addition, the six actors become stars by the love people showered on them. The show wasn’t just a hit in the United States, but it gained popularity worldwide, and still, it is very famous amongst today’s generation. Friends is one of the rarest sitcoms which was shot in front of a live audience to get the perfect episodes. 

Despite the series finale which aired in 2004, People who were born after still love the series so much that it was UK’s favourite streaming show in 2018 and was Netflix’s second most popular show in the US. The show garnered so much love because of its content and the connection it made with the audience. The characters form a certain kind of bond with the audience, which was passed on by generations to the next one from parents or from elder siblings. The show was full of human emotions, friendship, and love. Despite ceasing the production 15 years ago, the love for the show is still escalating by the day. Fan groups were formed and they are celebrating the show’s silver jubilee by creating Friends theme calendars, spin-offs, merchandise. Even cinemas in the US are screening the show and replicas of Central perk café and several fans visit Monica’s Apartment.

World-renowned designer Ralph Lauren just unveiled Friend’s inspired clothing range. Fans worldwide are celebrating the completion of 25 years of Friends by trending hashtags or sharing songs. The sitcom has won every major award, be it Emmys, Golden Globes or People's Choice awards in every category. Wishing Friends a happy 25th birthday, may we live on to see 25 years more of it!
