Guy Ritchie is back with an Old-School Crime thriller, The Gentlemen
Guy Stuart Ritchie is going old school in his upcoming film, The Gentlemen. The trailer is out and we can get a serious old-school crime-thriller vibe from this movie. The movie is being directed by Guy Ritchie and produced by Guy Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson and Bill Block. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on 24th January 2020. The cast of the movie includes Matthew McConaughey as Mickey Pearson, Charlie Hunnam, Hugh Grant, Henry Golding, Jeremy Strong, Eddie Marsan, Colin Farrell, Jason Wong, Brittany Ashworth, Eliot Sumner, Lyne Renee, Chris Evangelou and Eugenia Kuzmina.
The movie revolves around Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey) who owns a marijuana empire and has to protect it at all costs. He has spent a long time building this empire and now finds himself in a tough spot since his rivals want to take it all away from him. Matthew McConaughey’s character can be seen staying strong and saying “I am not for sale.” The trailer gives us a glimpse of an action-packed movie which has everything from kidnapping people to guys jumping out of the windows.
In May 2018, Guy Ritchie was announced to direct the film and would also write the film in the same spirit as Ritchie’s earlier films like Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. The project was introduced at 2018 Cannes Film Festival where Miramax acquired the distribution rights. The shooting of the film was expected to begin in October. Initially, in October, Matthew McConaughey, Kate Beckinsale, Henry Golding and Hugh Grant were cast, with Jeremy Strong, Jason Wong and Colin Farrell joining in November. Later Michelle Dockery joined by replacing Beckinsale in her role. Principal photography began on November 2018. In February 2019 STX Entertainment gets the distribution rights to the film and not the film is all set to come out next year on January 24.
