Mrunal Thakur To Star Opposite Shahid Kapoor In 'Jersey' Remake
Shahid Kapoor has been blessing our Instagram feeds with his intense cricketer avatar and out-of-the-stadium shots as he prepares for his upcoming movie - Jersey. The movie will be a remake of the Telugu movie by the same name that came out earlier this year.
Now, according to recent reports, Mrunal Thakur will be joining the cast of this movie as the female lead.
While talking about her casting in the movie, Mrunal said, “I am super excited to play the lead opposite Shahid in Jersey. When I saw the original film, I was bowled over by its passionate emotional journey. It felt like I had lived a full lifetime of experiences in those two-plus hours. So deep was the effect of the film on me that I couldn’t get it out of my heart the whole night, so I immediately watched it again the next day. I can’t wait for Hindi audiences to experience a similar impact.”
The film will be remade in Hindi by Gowtam Tinnanauri, he directed the original movie as well. Talking about the casting of the movie, Gowtam said, “After Shahid came on board, I only had Mrunal on my mind for the lead opposite him. I loved her performance and confidence in Super 30 opposite Hrithik Roshan and felt she’s perfectly fit for the part in Jersey and will do full justice to the role.”
Mrunal has previously worked with Hritik Roshan in Super 30 and John Abhram in Batla House, where she was widely appreciated by the critics for her acting skills.
Shahid Kapoor is still riding high on the success of his last movie, Kabir Singh that was a box office blockbuster and also gained many rave reviews from critics for his phenomenal performance.
The film is slated to be released in August next year.
