Salman Khan & Sanjay Leela Bhansali Back Together

Salman Khan & Sanjay Leela Bhansali Back Together

Salman Khan and EID are two things that have become synonymous when it comes to Indian cinema. His EID releases are some of the most anticipated movies in the country and his fans turn out in hordes to see the star flex his proverbial and literal muscles.

Another combination that is considered a recipe for success is Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, as has been exemplified through the extreme success generated by the films that they have done together. This is why it is so shocking to consider that it's been 20 years since the duo did a film together.

Thankfully for us, this wait won't last much longer, as the actor has publically confirmed that his next EID release will be none other than Bhansali's next romance epic, Inshallah. In this movie, Salman will play the role of a 40yr old business man who falls in love with a 20yr old actress, who will be played by Alia Bhatt.

This will be the first time that Salman and Alia will be seen together on screen, and it goes without saying that the actress is excited about working on this project. The fact that she is half his age actually helps in the casting, as the movie itself will explore the effect of this age gap on a relationship.

Salman, who we just saw in Bharat, of course has no qualms with working with someone not his age, as was seen by the presence of Disha Patani (again, half his age) in Bharat as his love interest, and Sonali Kulkarni (9 years younger) as his mother. He too took the opportunity to send out a tweet expressing his joy over reuniting with one of his favourite directors.

However, this is just an announcement and we still have to wait and see how all of this develops. For now, both the actors are quite busy as Salman still has to shoot for Dabangg 3, while Alia is busy wrapping up Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor, before she moves on to Sadak 2 with Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt.

Only after these projects are done and over with, will the shooting of Inshallah begin. It might take even more time and effort, since this is Bhansali's first romantic movie after quite some time, to be set in modern times. Not to mention the taboo to actually giving actors age appropriate roles in the industry.

It will certainly be interesting to see how this pans out, and if it can beat Akshay Kumar's 'Sooryavanshi', which will also release on the same date. While this is not the first time a Salman Khan EID release has clashed with another movie, it is certainly one of the rare times when the actor on the opposite end is just as bankable as him. For now, all we can do is pray that the actor director duo haven't lost their chemistry and can once again recreate the magic that made them popular in the first place.
