Sayani loves to have chocolates and frozen yogurts; interested in driving dirt bikes and wants her guy to be witty and intelligent.

FHM: Hey Sayani, wassup?

Sayani: Hey! Nothing much. Enjoying life.

You wowed us with your performance as the blind Khanum in “Margarita with a straw.” In fact, you’ve dabbled in everything from theatre to movies.

While researching for Margarita I got the opportunity of meeting and working closely with several people who are visually challenged and I observe them closely in their day to day life. This was such an overwhelming experience to see how self-sufficient, independent and empowered these individuals were, contrary to general perception. These individuals truly motivated me to celebrate life for whatever it is and at all times be constructively positive.

What has been the most inspiring filming experience so far?

One of the best things about being an actor is that you constantly come in contact with people who inspire you and change your perspective of looking at the lives of others. As for filming experience, two individuals who inspire me in so many different ways are Naseeruddin Shah, who has been my acting teacher and recently my co-actor in a film called ‘The Hungry’. The other individual is Shah Rukh Khan. Again, his ability to surrender to the role he is playing and his humility were motivating and mesmerising at the same time.

What about your dating history? What does that mean?

Hey girl, don’t get offended.

Tell us when was your first relationship?

When I was 16. That was my first love, I guess.

How does a boy reach you?

I don’t go on dates. And neither get impressed by random people who I don’t know.

We heard you have a passion for photography. Is there anybody or anything you would love to photograph?

Yeah. A lot of my friends are camera shy. I like taking their photos. I used to like taking portraits of children and old people. Oh, those days!

What achievement are you proud of but most people would consider silly?

I was very proud to have solved some theft cases in the hostel during my college days, as in, like a detective. My friends now laugh when I tell them that I could be a good investigator.

What are you working on now and what’s next?

I’m doing several short films. I have been getting a lot of good scripts for short films and I’m trying to wrap all of them before I start with my next feature. We would also be starting to shoot for the second season of “Inside Edge” sometime next year.

Would you rather be famous when you are alive and forgotten when you die or unknown when you are alive but famous after you die?

That’s a tough one. I want to be famous while I am alive and so famous that it becomes impossible to forget my work that I leave behind.

Would you rather only be able to drink from a straw or only be able to use a spoon (no fork)?

The Latter. Can do with only spoons. Maybe chopsticks.

Would you rather never be able to wear pants or never be able to wear shorts?

I am passing this one.

Would you rather be fantastic at riding horses or amazing at driving dirt bikes? Amazing at driving dirt bikes. Loved it the first time I did it on my birthday last month!
