The Nepotism Conspiracy

Earlier this year Kangana Ranaut was on the 'Koffee with Karan' couch with Saif Ali Khan. When K-Jo asked Kangana who would be an antagonist in her Biopic, In a rare moment of realism in Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut replied “Karan Johar”.

Continuing with her answer she said that Karan would be a Bollywood biggie who is snooty, intolerant to outsiders, flag bearer of nepotism and a movie mafia in it. Hilarious though, this answer did not go down well with Karan Johar.

Recently, when Karan and Saif Ali Khan took the stage at IIFA to host its award ceremony, they decided to crack jokes at Kangana Ranaut expense. It all started when Varun Dhawan came on stage to take his award, Saif Ali Khan announced, “You are here because of your papa.”

To which Varun replied, “You are here because of your mummy.”

Karan not to be outdone added, “I am here because of my papa.”

And then the three chanted “Nepotism Rocks!”

If it would have ended there it would have still been palatable but Varun decided to put the shoe firmly in his mouth by saying “There was a song in your film: 'Bole Choodiyan, Bole Kangana'”

Karan snarkily replied “Kangana nahi hi bole toh achcha hai. Kangana bahut bolti hai (It’s better not to name Kangana; she talks a lot).”

Karan Johar has since then apologised with "No matter what I say or feel about my issues with what Kangana said on my talk show Koffee With Karan, I think I was raised to be a dignified, a chivalrous, and a decent person. That's the upbringing that I was given and I feel that I failed on those accounts. I felt that no matter what my thoughts or personal issues on this, I should not have repeatedly brought that up. For that, I'm deeply regretful."

And Varun Dhawan tweeted an apology by saying “I express my apology and regret .. I am extremely sorry if I have offended or hurt anyone with that act..”

However, it’s Saif who is suffering from verbal diarrhea now. While apologizing he said “It’s easy to confuse nepotism with genetics. Maybe there is something in the genes too that makes many of Raj Kapoor’s descendants' actors or Pataudi's cricketers. I think it’s actually eugenics and genetics that’s coming into play.”

Either Saif is a really scary person or he needs to Google ‘Eugenics’  because it was made famous by the Nazism and literally means - the science of improving a population by controlled breeding to increase the occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics.

Nazi much, Saif?
