How does it feel coming to India and performing at the Echoes of Earth Music Festival? What are you most looking forward to during your visit here?
This is my 14th trip to India and I love it like a second home. The best part of this trip is that I am touring with a band for the first time and get to share the experience with them.
2. Early Life and Music Career
Tell us something about your life in New Zealand.
One of my earliest memories at around the age of 2 is being carried in the top of my fathers hiking pack through the mountains, I grew up doing a lot of outdoor activities. Hiking, sailing, kayaking. New Zealand really is a beautiful country with powerful energy and has been a massive source of inspiration for my music.
Did you always know that you wanted to be a music producer? What lead you to pursue music professionally?
I had a powerful realisation when I was around 15 that I would be producing electronic music for the rest of my life. I never had any expectations about where it would lead me professionally but I knew I had found my passion.
What have been your earliest memories of Dub and of Psychedelic music? Who are the artists that have shaped your sound and music?
New Zealand has a great dub scene since the 90’s... check out some artists like Fat Freddys Drop, Salmonella Dub and Pitch Black
4. Live Performances
What do you prefer, recording music or performing live and why?
I am a studio head at heart and love my solitude but there is nothing like being on stage and having a symbiotic experience with a massive crowd!
If you could perform live anywhere in the world. What would you choose?
I live in Mauritius and it is total paradise. I would love to play at Red Rocks, California
