Rock It With Rika
You are just 17, when did you first discover your love for music?
It started many years ago when I used to participate in school plays and write songs from the eager age of 9. I always had a passion and love for music from childhood.
It’s evident that you are an amazing singer. Your voice is like no one else’s, the uniqueness is something that makes you so special and propels your fan base. Who or what has been most influential to your music and style?
I would say my biggest icon is Mariah Carey. She is such an icon. Her voice is so smooth and velvety, and she is as strong of a songwriter as she a singer and a performer. I aspire to be like her; a successful artist with worldwide recognition.
Your debut single is called ‘No Need’. Where did the title come from? What actually inspired you to make this?
“No Need” is an anthem of empowerment and bop about telling people there’s no need to be mean and rude, it’s unnecessary. I came home one day after someone had been quite rude to me and my friends, and then I decided to open this track.
You established your incredible reach by creating awareness and helping the children of Syria. How did it feel?
It felt great to be able to help the children of Syria by using music. I feel music is a universal language and we can all indeed connect and feel with music.
How would you describe yourself as an artist?
I think as an artist I’m really diverse. My genres are Pop and R&B. I love having an input with my sound and co-producing all my tracks.
If you had to listen to only one song for the rest of your life what song would it be?
Chris Brown- Fine China.
What is your dream venue to perform at?
Madison Square Garden. It is such an iconic venue.
