Movies That Got Ignored This Year Over Big Budget Films

2023 has given so many memorable movies, but some of them have been ignored by the audience. Take a look.

The year of 2023 has come to an end, and in just a few days we will be going to welcome the new year with some new stories, new characters, and new lessons. After crossing tough times, the Hindi film industry is again back on track with its successful ventures.

But still, some movies didn’t get their due credit and were left underappreciated by the audience. The Hindi film industry usually tends to have big projects, extravagant sets, successful dance and romantic numbers, and many more. On the other side, this industry also produces some films that make you think twice about societal norms and incidents that are going on around you.

Despite being so content-oriented, movies failed at the box office; they failed to gather an audience as compared to big budget movies. They resulted in underrated films of the year that need to be watched by every age group. So, today we have gathered a list of such films that may not have been able to cast their magic on big screens and may have earned less, but have the power to provoke your thoughts and mindset. Those movies are:

Afwaah

Movies

Bhumi Pednekar was seen in some forgettable films, but Afwaah is one of the films in which she shows her ability to perform. Sudhir Mishra’s Afwaah tells a story about how fake rumours are enough to spoil your life, and it is important to have your own thoughts on the news that you hear every day. It also highlights the topics of ‘Love Jihad’ and ‘Politics’.

This mystery thriller film was written and directed by Sudhir Mishra (known for Chameli, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, and Serious Men) and was produced by Anubhav Sinha. Afwaah features Bhumi Pednekar, Nawazzudin Siddiqui, Sumeet Vyas, Sharib Hashmi, Sumit Kaul, and Appurv Gupta.

8 am Metro

Movies

8 am Metro gives you a full breeze of joy when you watch the movie. 8 am Metro is the story of two strangers (Preetam and Iravati) who meet at the 8 am Metro and eventually become friends, and in the process of this relationship of friendship, they can find themselves and each other.

Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hain

Movies

Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hain is one of the best courtroom dramas in the history of Indian cinema. It narrates the true story of a five-year stand-alone legal battle for the truth and the pursuit of justice for a juvenile, fought by a regular session court lawyer (played by Bajpayee). The way Bajpayee acted in the film is commendable, and it shows why he is one of the best actors in India.

Despite some controversies, the film was critically successful and was directly released on OTT. If you are thinking of watching some realistic yet entertaining content, then you should watch Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai on Zee5.

Joram

Movies

This is the third film by Manoj Bajpayee that was released this year. But Joram was very different from Bajpayee’s other films, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai and Gulmohar.

The suspenseful survival thriller Joram, directed by Devashish Makhija, follows the lives of a desperate man and his infant daughter as they flee a system that wants them crushed at all costs, a cop who pursues them against their will, and a grieving mother seeking ruthless vengeance across a brutal landscape of destroyed forests, blind greed, rebellion, and the bloody aftershocks of development.

It was the third collaboration between Bajpayee and director Makhija after the short film Taandav (2016) and Bhosle (2018), for which Manoj Bajpayee won the National Film Award for Best Actor.

Three of Us

Movies

This is a movie that honours beautiful quiet. The background music is so subdued that it is almost invisible. The three principal players are heard conversing with themselves and each other. Shailja’s contemplative search for her early years in a place where time is stopped but not wasted contains some heart-stopping moments.

In this masterful film, the thread that unites working-class relationships is skillfully and calmly braided. Long after the movie ends, the viewer is still in a soft, serene mood. A priceless fragment of life on celluloid is the three of us. Three of Us starring Shefali Shah, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Swanand Kirkire was directed by Avinash Arun.

Special Mention:

Movies

Bheed

Kathal

Apurva

Dhak Dhak

Gulmohar
