Grooming for men was such an alien topic a few years back. It was a concept which was restricted to men in the glamour industry. Times have changed and men grooming is not a frowned upon topic, even as metrosexuals have arrived. 

I remember as a young adult watching star like Amitabh Bachchan appearing in an advertisement for gender-neutral products, say Ambuja cement. Then came to the crop of Shahrukh Khan, who started with the face creams specially designed for me, and the ‘7 signs of ageing’ were not restricted to just women. Things have taken a bigger leap with young heartthrobs such as Virat Kohli and Ranveer Singh promoting all sorts of grooming products. The next in line is the Youtubers and bloggers who don’t shy away from trying some charcoal facemasks that hit the market. 

And why not? The global market for male grooming products is projected at US dollars 60.7 billion by 2020. And unlike the belief, it’s not just shaving creams or fragrances. Sunscreen, skin brightening and anti-ageing products are ruling the market. So, are there any rules to be followed? We tell you. 

Do’s & Don’ts 
Beard has been a trend forever, but for the last couple of years, it has become a style statement. So, why shave it off just because summer is calling? Go minimalistic chic. Trim it and style it to keep it neat. Do not use heavy products on hair and beard. Use lightweight serums instead of gel. Try dry shampoo. It works! Rogue hair out of nose and ear is a big no. So, invest in trimmers or use your good old pair of scissors.
Buy perfumes and colognes that suit your personality. Cologne works well during the day or when you are outdoors. Always apply sunscreen before stepping out in the sun. It’s not a myth. Men, do not sulk. There are special sunscreens for you. 
For summer, opt for cotton and linen for casual wear. Pair it with kolhapuri chappals for the day and a bright red loafer for the night. Stay sweat-free by using talcum powder or sweat pads under your armpits.
