Smart Watch Your Steps

Smart Watch Your Steps

MOTO 360 (2ND GEN)

The Look
Continuing on the success of Moto 360, the 2nd Gen variant looks as fantastic as its predecessor. The dial is sharp and round and gives the feeling of a fully-grown smartwatch. The leather strap gives it a slightly formal look and creates a perfect balance between class and technology.

Efficiency

The 2nd Gen monitors you closely and gives an overall analysis of your body in every 15 days. The dial displays information on the number of steps you take, date, day and weather. The option of checking emails, reading WhatsApp messages and accepting or rejecting calls makes it perfect for a modern man.

How To Connect

Connecting the watch to your mobile device is easy via Android Wear and doesn’t take much time to sync. Significantly enough, the app works on iOS devices as well.

USP
The Moto Body App is the stand-out performer!

TITAN JUXT PRO

The Look
The Juxt Pro has an all-metal body with just two buttons on the side. And it is big (really big!) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 touch screen display.

Efficiency
This one is the sturdiest among the lot. The piece has a lot of in-built features to play with, like controlling your phone’s camera remotely, apart from tracking step counts, calorie meter, Bluetooth music, smartphone notifications of emails, messages and WhatsApp.

How To Connect

The app connects it easily and when you fill in your height and weight details, the tracking results are personalised to an absolutely different level.

USP
The Titan Safety App helps your registered emergency contact to trace your location when you long press the button. It supports Bluetooth headphones too.

WITHINGS ACTIVITE STEEL

The Look
This one is a regular analogue timepiece with no distinguishing feature. Made of stainless steel, with domed sapphire glass and a silicone strap, it fits on the wrist perfectly. The watch has two dials, one for time and the other smaller dial to show the percentage of steps you have set for the day. With no switch on the sides, there is one on the back to switch the device on

Efficiency

Everything is controlled through the ‘Withings Health Mate’ app as the company is keeping the focus on health, fitness and sleep. It keeps track of numbers of steps you take per day, distance covered and calories burnt via the app. There is an alarm too which makes the watch vibrate. The watch’s battery is non-chargeable and works for 8 months, as claimed by the company.

How To Connect

Download the app and press the button on the back to connect the devices, and you are set. Fix the time and monitor everything on the phone.

USP

The amazing feature in this watch is the sleep tracking. It works wonders and tracks the sleeping and waking up time spot on. The app rewards and achievements offer advice and let you challenge friends to help keep you motivated and push you further.

TIMEX METROPOLITAN+

The Look

Timex is a tried and tested name in the watch space. The Metropolitan+ retains a classic look with three dials, including one that tells time, another that records your distance progress from 0 to 100 per cent,  and a third that displays mode. The straps are modifiable, though it comes with a black patterned leather one.

Efficiency
We used the watch for about a month and trust us, there was no need to charge it even once, thanks to the coin battery inside the watch. When you use smartwatches, they all need to be charged, but this one spares the torture. From steps walked to completion of goals, everything is visible on the screen as you don’t need to swipe screens to check every detail. If you are looking for a fitness tracker that also shows the time, this one is not for you. However, the Metropolitan+ is a great looking watch that has elementary fitness tracking to appeal you!

How To Connect

The problem comes here. We tried really hard to connect the watch with the app but failed to do so for a long time. It seems that Timex is weak on this front. Another problem is the basic design of the app as everything needs to be synced manually and the activity data fails to communicate well.

USP

The simple and minimalistic design is bound to win your heart. The price that it offers is also unmatchable, however, it is not for those looking for hardcore fitness trackers.
